Class Payment and Cancellation Policy: A space in the class will be reserved only with full payment of the class. If cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the first day of class, half credit will be given. For cancellations prior to this time, full credit will be given for a future class.

Basic Building Blocks – Tools of the Trade – Beginners Welcome * Learn how to use the basic tools of piecing. You will have the opportunity to practice measuring fabric and cutting accurately using a rotary cutter. You will learn how to sew a quarter inch seam on your machine. The mystery of fabric and color selection will also be discussed. By the end of this session, you will be ready to take your first full piecing class.

| Intro to Piecing I - Beginners Welcome * A great start to a wonderful hobby. In this class, you will begin two projects: 1) “Rail Fence” Quilt, and 2) “Log Cabin” Quilt. Both projects may be modified to the size of your choice. We will help with fabric selection. You will learn the basic techniques to put blocks together (including strip and chain piecing) and how to correctly measure and attach borders. You must be familiar with proper rotary cutting techniques to take this class.

Intro to Piecing II – Advanced Beginner Level * Once you’re comfortable with squares and rectangles, take the triangle plunge with this class. You will learn several techniques for creating triangles, and you will begin two projects: 1) “Pinwheel” quilt and 2) “Sawtooth Star” quilt. Borders will be taken to a new level – mitered. With several sizes to choose from, you will be sure to learn the basic skills needed for a long, prosperous quilting career. You must have basic cutting and piecing skills to take this class.

Jump-In Machine Quilting - Intermediate Level * You understand the basics of machine quilting, but you’re afraid that you might “ruin” one of your quilt tops. You need to just JUMP-IN and do it. Wouldn’t that be easier with a confident quilter by your side? Lorraine is our rising quilt star - she is new to the hobby and can show some of her first pieces to ease your trepidation. She will also show you her latest work that will help re-enforce that “Yes you can do this!!!” Basic machine quilting knowledge is necessary.

Hand Quilting - Beginners Welcome * Come learn this traditional method for hand finishing your quilt tops. A review of fabric construction will be followed by a discussion of batting options. You will be guided through basting and marking your quilt, and there will be plenty of time for practicing the basic quilting stitch.

Beautiful Bindings - Beginners Welcome * Bindings are the very last step in your quilt making journey, finishing the very outer edges where quilts typically get the most wear. Come learn several techniques for adding this final creative touch to your quilts. Learn how to attach a double-fold binding to straight as well as scalloped edges. Class will include demos on pieced, bias, and hexagonal bindings. You will go home with two samples to help you remember what you learned. You need NOT have a finished quilt in order to take this class.

| Paper Piecing – Beginners Welcome * Come learn how to create intricate patterns fault free. Just follow the lines and stitch your way to perfect points. During class you will learn the rhyme and reason of basic paper piecing as well as some advanced adaptations. You have three patterns to choose from.

Machine Appliqué – Beginners Welcome * While constructing a sampler wall quilt, you will learn four distinct methods of machine appliqué: blanket stitch, satin stitch, raw edge, and moch-hand. In addition to teaching the basics of each appliqué method, Ellen will also teach you how correct pivoting and tension can improve the end result.

Using the Macro hoop or Giga hoop, we will combine, flip, duplicate and rotate images to make lace designs for stitching. The knowledge you gain will allow you to use these editing techniques in all your future projects. You must bring your laptop with Customizer 10000 or 11000 loaded.
